Spring Hill Chargers

06/25/2014 - Spring Hill 6, Farming 3

Elrosa-Spring Hill rallied from a 2-0 first inning deficit to top Farming 6-3 Wednesday, June 18.

Eichers pitched a complete game, although it appeared he might not get out of the first inning. Farming hit the ball hard opening with a double and single and took a 2-0 first inning lead. Adiving catch by left-fielder Louie Opatz, prevented more from scoring.

“I had to get loose,” said Eichers. “I had to keep the ball low. The defense made a lot of great plays.”

The Chargers came back to tie the game in the fourth, then had to rally again in the seventh. Trailing 3-2 Spring Hill tied the game on a double steal by Nathan Terres and Grant Schoenberg. After Kyle Bertram singled and stole second, Opatz doubled in the go-ahead runs. In the eighth Shawn Schoenberg scored on Nathan Terres’ sacrifice fly. “It’s been awhile since I pitched a complete game,” said the 2011 Melrose Area High School graduate. “Probably back when I was in high school, but I’ve never gone nine innings before.”
