Elrosa created a three-way tie in the SCL North leader standings with their 8-6 win over Spring Hill tonight at Elrosa.  The Saints needed to rally from a 4-0 first inning deficit.  Spring Hill took that lead when Louie Opatz, who would finish with three hits in the game, singled in Jamie Terres and Shawn Schoenberg. Eric Schoenberg followed with an RBI single and Kyle Bertram reached base, and Opatz scored on a infield error. Then Elrosa starter Austin Imdieke settled down and didn’t let up a run as he pitched through sixth innings.

His teammate wasted little time getting back into the game. After Matt Middendorf walked, AJ Hadley double. They were driven in on a sacrifice fly by Cody Eichers and a single by Matt Schmitz. Schmitz also had three hits in the game. The Saints tied the score in the third inning. Eichers tripled to score Austen Hadley and then scored on a ground out by Schmitz.  Middendorf’s RBI single in the fourth added the go ahead run (Ryan Illies) and Elrosa never trailed again.  Back-to-back doubles by Kevin Kuefler (which scored Pat Illies) and Ethan Vogt (scoring Kuefler) added two more runs.   The team also had doubles from Schmitz and Kuefler when they scored one more in the seventh. Spring Hill rallied for two runs off of reliever Aaron Vogt. In the seventh Opatz’ sacrifice fly scored Jamie Terres. In the ninth Eric Schoenberg’s ground out scored Nathan Terres. Vogt got out of a two-out, runners at the corners jam by striking out the final batter to preserve the win.
