Spring Hill Chargers

07/06/2011 - Chargers Make a Splash Over the Weekend

The Chargers of Spring Hill earned a weekend sweep beating the Grovers and Royals.  The weekend kicked off with the Grovers traveling to Spring Hill to take on the hometown Chargers.  The Chargers cannonballed their way to an early 5-0 lead, and backed it with solid defensive play.  Jamie Terres added a little insurance for the lightning bolts by blasting a homerun in the 5th.  On the hill for Spring Hill was Eric Schoenberg who earned the win and was relieved by Chris Spanier who earned the save on the day.  After the division win the Chargers held their annual Pool Party and “Celebrity Pool Basketball Game” with an appearance from the Rain Maker Aaron Welle.  Most Chargers would say it was a barrel of fun, at least 8 gallons worth.  The motto no blood, no foul has taken on a new meaning.  The domination of The Dream Team, made a long day for any former basketball player.

The chlorine made for some bloodshot eyes on the Sunday of the weekend double header.  The Chargers loaded up their camping supplies and packed on the camper for a stop at Royal Park in Richmond.  Two potential first place teams squared off in a slugfest.  The battle of the two biggest rosters in the league lead to a 16-5, 7 innings win for the men in maroon.  The crack of the bats of both clubs drew fans looking for fireworks.  Shawn Schoenberg started on the mound for the Chargers earning the win, and was relieved by the durable Chris Spanier.  On a warm July summer day the Chargers were able to enjoy a victory and some cold beverages in moderation of course.

The week to come proves another test for the Chargers who are now on a bear hunt looking for revenge from the Cubs of Greenwald.  The Chargers are scheduled to take on the team who beat them earlier this season, and the Chargers would like to take a win from them to shake up the playoff race.
